Douwe Egberts is an iconic brand in both Belgium and The Netherlands. Their coffee and mugs are seen in bars all over the Low Countries. They introduced Senseo coffee, which has a large market share in Belgium. With L’Or, Douwe Egberts sought to regain its market share. However, to do so, they needed a product media idea that would adequately represent their higher quality coffee brand... DE asked Van Bavel to design and supply a product that would fulfil their requirements.
Designing, developing and finally manufacturing the glass mugs was a very intense yet very gratifying process. Firstly, sketches were designed and presented to the customer. Once the final one was selected, a digital 3D model was made. The last step consisted of printing the mug with a 3D printer. This process enabled our customer to examine the final product even before the mold was made, saving both costs and time. Once the product was completely approved, a mold was made, and production was launched. During the production process, Van Bavel assured sound quality control.
The glass mugs were given away in supermarkets when the customer purchased L’Or coffee.
